Indian Motorcycle Takes Bagger Style To Another Level With New 2017 Chieftain Limited And Chieftain Elite
NEWS PROVIDED BY | Indian Motorcycle | Apr 04, 2017, 08:00 ET
Ten-Spoke 19" Front Wheel, Open Front Fender and a Host of New Design Accents Offer Riders A More Attention-Grabbing Look Than Ever Before
MINNEAPOLIS, April 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The new standard in bagger design and style is here. That's what Indian Motorcycle accomplished with the new custom-inspired Chieftain Limited and Chieftain Elite. For these bold new 2017 Chieftains, Indian Motorcycle's designers added tons of style with a variety of features that provide a more sleek, meaner look than ever before. The new offerings represent a bold evolution of the Chieftain line and pave the way for nothing less than legendary riding experiences.
"Our goal was to evolve the award-winning Chieftain platform with new models that elevated the overall style of this bike significantly, while still staying true to the signature design qualities that Indian Motorcycle is known for," said Reid Wilson, Director of Marketing for Indian Motorcycle. "There's no doubt these bikes have a more commanding presence combined perfectly with the flowing lines and signature details that make them 100 percent Indian."

Every detail of these two bikes demands attention. A new lower-profile, sawed-off open front fender showcases Indian Motorcycle's new front wheel – a ten-spoke 19" contrast-cut behemoth, paired with a matching 16" rear wheel that perfectly complements the powerful dual 300mm floating front rotors with 4 piston calibers. The calipers feature the Indian Motorcycle script logo for a unique custom touch. A color matched headlight bezel and streamlined leather saddle complete the more sleek, aggressive look.
For those who demand the best of the best, the Chieftain Elite steps to the plate as a limited-edition bike that's as close to "custom" as possible. It features custom Fireglow Red Candy with Marble Accents paint, all completed entirely by hand at Indian Motorcycle's custom paint facility located in Spearfish, South Dakota. It takes a small, specialized team over 25 hours to hand paint each bike and since no machines are used, no two Chieftain Elites look exactly the same. The Elite also comes with a wealth of premium accessories, including Pathfinder LED headlight and driving lights, a flare windshield, billet driver and passenger floorboards, and a 200-watt premium audio system. Only 350 will be made available for sale globally.
Both bikes come stacked with all the features that make the Chieftain line the most respected bagger on the road. Along with the industry leading Ride Command® seven-inch infotainment system and powerful Thunderstroke 111 engine with 119 ft-lbs of torque, the Chieftain Limited and Chieftain Elite have a wealth of features including key-less ignition, remote locking saddlebags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), chrome front highway bars, power adjustable windshields, and just enough chrome to highlight all the attitude these bikes have to offer.
Indian Motorcycle upped the ante on style with the Chieftain Limited and set a new standard with the Chieftain Elite. Both are designed and engineered to lead any pack. What follows in their wake will be legendary.

Wounded Warrior Project Brought out Veterans in Southern CA
Wounded Warrior Project Gathering Brought out Veterans
SAN DIEGO, April 3, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- During a recent Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) motorcycle event, injured veterans shared their love of the open road and experienced what is possible at social events that get them out of the house and connect them with fellow service members and their community.
Riders gathered in the morning, saddled up, and set out from San Diego to the March Field Air Museum. Warriors were given a private tour of the museum, where they got a glimpse of the evolution of military aviation in America.

"I have been wanting to get involved with a motorcycle riding group but was extremely hesitant," said Navy veteran Lisha Brown. "But once I learned more about the event, some of my fear was put at ease. I'm glad I was encouraged to participate because I love connecting with other veterans who may be experiencing the same issues as me."
These connection activities support the recovery needs of warriors by reintroducing them to the bonds experienced during military service. In a WWP survey of the injured warriors it serves, more than half of survey respondents (51.7 percent) talked with fellow veterans to address their mental health issues, and 29.6 percent expressed physical activity helps.
"Camaraderie – that's what we know from our time in the military," Lisha said. "I think connecting with other veterans is priceless, and the Wounded Warrior Project staff is awesome. They bring so much caring, knowledge, and – above all – a compassionate spirit that we don't usually get after we have disconnected from the military."
Following the museum tour, warriors gathered for lunch and learned about various WWP programs that could assist them in their recoveries. Thanks to generous donors, WWP programs and services are offered free of charge to warriors, their caregivers, and families, and they help with mental health, physical health and wellness, career and benefits counseling, connecting warriors with one another and their communities, and long-term care for the most seriously wounded.

Hill Climbs are back for the Laconia Motorcycle Rally
Gunstock to again host motorcycle event
Article is courtesy of MICHAEL KITCH of the LACONIA DAILY SUN | March 22, 2017
GILFORD — After a hiatus of five years, the hill climb, long a signature feature of Laconia Motorcycle Week, will return to the ski jump at Gunstock Mountain Resort during the 94th running of the "World's Oldest Motorcycle Rally" in June.
The Gunstock Hillclimb, sanctioned by the American Motorcycle Association and sponsored by Ridge Runner Promotions , will be run at the 70-meter ski jump at on Wednesday, June 14 — come rain, come shine — beginning at 9 a.m.
"We're very pleased that the hill climb is coming back to its original location at Gunstock," said Charlie St. Clair, executive director of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association. "I know this will make a whole lot of people very happy during Motorcycle Week."

He expressed his appreciation to the management of Gunstock, especially Marketing Director Mike Roth and General Manager Greg Goddard, as well as the members of the Gunstock Commission, for their decision to resume hosting the event.
The hill climb was run at Gunstock 1946 until 1962 and again from 1993 until 2011, when Ridge Runner Promotions, which sponsors the event, and management of the resort failed to renew their contract. For the past five years Ridge Runner Promotions held a competition in the Pro Hill Climb Series sanctioned by the American Motorcycle Association at the organization's site in Canaan.
Goddard said on Wednesday that in anticipation of celebrating the resort's 80th anniversary Roth began reviewing its history and was taken by the tradition of hosting the hill climb. He reached out to the hill climbers among the motorcycling community, beginning with the New England Hill Climbers, who soon passed the baton to Mike Farnsworth of Ridge Runner Promotions.
Roth said that he was impressed that the hill climb was a tradition that ran deep and long and thought "My gosh, tell me all about it." He recalled that when Chris Chartier of the New England Climbers told him that his father ran the hill climb before him and his son was about to follow in their tire tracks, he realized it is "a multi-generational thing people feel passionate and nostalgic about." The hill climb, he said, is in keeping with Gunstock's character as a community and familial resort, where parents have passed on their experience to their children.
"We've come full circle," Roth said. "It's something special that needs to come back."
Goddard said that after some negotiation Gunstock and Ridge Runner Promotions reached an agreement and entered a contract, by which a share of the proceeds from the event would be applied to restoring and maintaining the hill after the event and the balance split between the resort and the sponsor. He said that the Ridge Runners will stage the hill climb itself, while Gunstock will manage the logistics of parking, camping, crowd control and food and beverage service.
"We're really excited to have it back," Goddard said."It fills a hole in the schedule for Motorcycle Week and generates revenue for the resort between the winter and summer seasons."
Belknap County Commissioner Dave DeVoy, who urged the Gunstock Commission to host the event, said he was disappointed when the hill climb moved to Canaan and pleased that the longstanding event has been revived, not least because it will strengthen the financial performance of the resort. Speaking as a business owner, he noted that trade at his gas station and convenience store on Lakeshore Road dropped off significantly in the middle of the rally without the hill climb.
St. Clair said he is pleased that the hill climb will be limited to amateur riders.
"An amateur is a big draw, because the odds of getting to the top are a lot less," he explained, "and if you don't make it, you've got get your bike back down that steep hill. It's quite a feat either way," recalling his own experience of getting 20 feet shy of the top and having to get down to the bottom.
"I was petrified," he confessed.

We are planning a fun and challenging course for sidecar riders. We may have an off-road course that challenges riders and a flat-lot course that tests riding skills and accuracy. Or you can sit back and watch the fun happen.
Is this the start of something great?
We are hoping there is enough interest in this event to justify a series of sidecar events in other parts of the U.S. Time will tell, but we think we’re onto something, and we look forward to riding with you again.
